It’s been a while since my last post, and sometimes I don’t realise how fast time flies! Recently, there’s been a lot going on in my life, so today, I want to sit down and write about everything.

New home

Back in September, I had to move houses. It was a bit stressful—looking for a new property, filling in all the forms and documents, packing and unpacking. Our previous landlord decided to sell the house, so we had to find something real quick. We settled in quite quickly, and I got an extra room for all my makeup! Well, it’s technically my office to continue working from home in peace, but… I used that extra space to organise my makeup. If I need to wake up before my boyfriend does, I can move to that smaller room and get ready with the lights on.

A quick trip back home

In October, my mom and I travelled back to Poland for a week. My grandpa is very sick, so we try to visit him regularly. Unfortunately, I still had to work from home, so I didn’t spend as much time with my family as I wished, but it was great to see and catch up with everyone. I even managed to celebrate my godson’s birthday with him for the first time in his life!

If you live abroad, you know that you usually visit all the doctors for a checkup when you go back home because it’s just cheaper. I finally went to a gynaecologist after two years, which is such a relief. I have a BRCA1 gene mutation, and it’s essential to keep an eye on my ovaries and breasts to prevent cancer. For some reason, the NHS in the UK doesn’t relate. It’s impossible to get an appointment for a regular checkup with a gynaecologist unless you’re bleeding or having other unpleasant symptoms. Whereas in Poland, it’s recommended to check yourself every year.

Anyways, I found out I might have insulin resistance and polycystic ovaries, so I am currently educating myself on this and how I can reverse it.

Professional changes

Once I came back from Poland, my boss told me that, unfortunately, I needed to look for another job. If you didn’t know, I have been working at a tech startup in London for the past two years. I was their first and last employee, and the company hasn’t developed much since I joined. There was no actual product-market fit. We didn’t get any significant investments, and we didn’t have a team of marketing experts who could guide me and help me out with content marketing, social media and email marketing.

Officially, I had to look for another job because they are not ready for marketing until they figure out what they want to do. So for the past few weeks, I’ve been applying for different types of marketing jobs. I managed to get a couple of interviews and even got to a final stage in one, so hopefully, I’ll know more about my future within a couple of days.

I was going to look for another job anyways because I felt stuck. I didn’t feel like I made any professional development, and of course, at such an early stage in my career, that’s what matters to me the most. To keep learning and improving. However, I wanted to wait for January. My boyfriend and I are travelling to Italy for a month in December, which is inconvenient now.

So that’s where I am at now. As you can see, there’s been a lot of professional and personal changes in my life. Fingers crossed that by the end of this week, I will know more about my career to stop stressing about not being able to pay bills.

What about you? How’s life?
